Just picture waking up every morning liberated from the clutches of chronic pain, relishing the sensation of your body moving effortlessly and without any unease. This vision might seem distant to those battling persistent pain caused by adhesions—tough bands of connective tissue that form between organs and tissues, often disrupting normal functioning and contributing to intense discomfort. Massage therapy, a centuries-old healing technique, offers a promising approach to mitigating these pains and enhancing the body’s natural healing process.

Let us explore why addressing adhesion is crucial for overall health, and explain the potential of massage therapy as a transformative tool for those affected. We’ll uncover how targeted manipulation of muscles and tissues can alleviate pain and improve mobility and quality of life, setting the stage for a deeper understanding of massage therapy’s role in the adhesion healing process.

Understanding Adhesions

Adhesions are tough bands that can form between tissues and organs, often after surgery, injury, or inflammation. These bands can create sticky paths that disrupt normal body functions and movement. Adhesions are a concern because they can limit mobility and cause pain. Massage therapists use specific techniques to apply pressure and help ease these bands, promoting the growth of new, healthier tissue.

Types of Adhesions

Post-surgical Adhesions: Develop after surgery as the body tries to heal internal wounds, leading to bands that can connect organs or tissues that are normally separated.

Traumatic Adhesions: Caused by direct physical injuries that affect internal tissues, often complicating the healing process.

Inflammatory Adhesions: Form in response to inflammation, where tissues bind together as a defensive healing response.

Symptoms and Impact

The physical symptoms of adhesions can range from mild discomfort to severe pain, often aggravated by movements that stretch the fibrous bands. This discomfort can manifest anywhere in the body but is particularly common as abdominal adhesions. Psychologically, the chronic pain associated with adhesions can lead to anxiety and a reduced quality of life, making effective treatment essential for both mental and physical health.

The Science Behind Massage Therapy

Massage therapy has evolved significantly since its ancient beginnings, growing into a sophisticated tool that integrates various techniques to manipulate muscle, skin, and connective tissues, promoting healing and well-being. This evolution reflects a deepening understanding of how targeted pressure can positively affect the body’s physical structures and psychological state, helping to dissolve scars, soothe nerves, and relieve stress.

Types of Massage Therapy

Swedish Massage: Uses gentle pressure to promote relaxation and increase blood circulation.

Deep-tissue massage: This technique applies firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia. It is often used to treat chronic muscle pain.

Myofascial Release Focuses on releasing muscular shortness and tightness. It is often used to alleviate pain and restore motion by relaxing contracted muscles and stimulating the stretch reflex.

Other Therapeutic Techniques: This includes a variety of approaches, like trigger point therapy, which specifically targets points of tension within muscles, creating new pathways for nerve and tissue growth.

Mechanisms of Action

Massage therapy works through several mechanisms: mechanically by breaking down adhesions and encouraging the formation of new, functional tissue; neurophysiologically by stimulating nerve receptors to reduce pain and muscle tension; and psychologically by reducing stress and promoting relaxation, enhancing overall well-being and recovery in clients.

How Massage Therapy Addresses Adhesions

Massage therapy offers a multifaceted approach to addressing the tough, fibrous bands of adhesions that can cause significant discomfort and restrict movement. Through targeted techniques, therapists can alleviate these physical constraints, promoting better health and mobility.

Breaking Down Scar Tissue

Massage therapists use direct physical manipulation to break down scar tissue by applying controlled pressure to the skin and muscles, helping to release tight areas. This process increases tissue elasticity, allowing the affected areas to become more flexible and less prone to stiffness or pain, ultimately improving overall mobility.

Improving Blood Flow and Circulation

Massage therapy enhances blood flow and circulation in the body, which plays a vital role in healing. By boosting circulation, the body can deliver more nutrients to damaged tissues, supporting their recovery. At the same time, improved circulation aids in the removal of metabolic waste from the body, helping to maintain healthy tissues and reduce discomfort.

Promoting Lymphatic Drainage

Massage therapy also promotes lymphatic drainage, which helps reduce inflammation by flushing out excess fluids and toxins. This process not only decreases swelling in affected areas but also supports the immune system, allowing the body to function more efficiently in fighting off infections and speeding up recovery.

Evidence-Based Research

A systematic study titled “Effect of Soft Tissue Mobilization Techniques on Adhesion-Related Pain and Function in the Abdomen” provides strong evidence for the benefits of massage therapy techniques such as deep tissue massage and myofascial release in treating adhesions. This review analyzed multiple clinical studies and found that these techniques significantly improve mobility and alleviate pain in patients suffering from adhesions, particularly in the abdomen.

These findings also reported that patients receiving these soft tissue mobilization therapies experienced measurable improvements in both pain levels and physical function, such as increased range of motion and enhanced daily activities.

Comparative Analysis

Different approaches to treating adhesions offer varying levels of effectiveness, accessibility, and affordability. Comparing massage therapy with other common treatments provides insight into the best options for addressing this condition.

Massage Therapy vs. Other Treatments

Massage therapy offers a noninvasive option that focuses on manual manipulation to break down adhesions and improve mobility. In contrast, physical therapy often incorporates exercises alongside manual techniques to achieve similar goals. Surgical interventions, while sometimes necessary, can be more invasive and carry risks like further scar tissue formation. Pharmaceutical approaches may help manage pain, but they don’t address the root cause of adhesions, often leaving patients seeking longer-term solutions.

Cost-Effectiveness

Massage therapy is often a more affordable and accessible treatment option compared to surgery or long-term medication use. Its economic benefits include fewer medical costs related to invasive procedures, with many therapies widely available through licensed practitioners. In terms of accessibility, massage is generally easier to schedule and can be done in various settings, making it a practical and cost-effective choice for managing adhesions.

Practical Application

Massage therapy can be a powerful tool for addressing adhesions, but understanding when to seek treatment and how to choose a qualified therapist is essential for effective results.

When to Seek Massage Therapy

It’s important to seek massage therapy when adhesions start affecting your movement or causing discomfort. Identifying the right time involves assessing your symptoms—such as pain, stiffness, or limited mobility—and their severity. If these issues begin interfering with daily activities, it’s a sign that treatment may be necessary.

Choosing a Qualified Therapist

Finding a qualified massage therapist requires checking their credentials and certifications to ensure they have the proper training in dealing with adhesions. Look for therapists with positive recommendations and reviews from previous clients, as this can give you confidence in their ability to deliver effective treatment.

What to Expect in a Session

In a typical session, you’ll start with an initial consultation where the therapist assesses your condition and discusses your symptoms. The treatment process usually involves specific techniques aimed at breaking down adhesions and improving tissue mobility. After the session, the therapist may recommend post-treatment care, such as hydration or gentle stretching, to enhance the benefits of the massage.

Potential Risks and Considerations

While massage therapy is generally safe, there are a few potential risks to consider. Possible side effects may include short-term discomfort, soreness, or bruising, especially after deep tissue treatments. Certain medical conditions, such as recent surgeries, infections, or blood clotting issues, may make massage therapy unsafe, which is why it’s important to check with a healthcare provider beforehand.

There are also some misconceptions, like the belief that massage therapy is always painful or that it can completely eliminate severe adhesions. In reality, massage should be tailored to your comfort level and, while effective, may not fully remove all adhesions in extreme cases.

Embracing the Healing Power of Massage for Adhesions

If you’ve been struggling with pain or stiffness from adhesions, it’s worth considering how massage therapy might offer relief. While current research shows promising results, there’s still more to explore in how different techniques can further improve outcomes for patients.

As the field continues to evolve, massage therapy remains a valuable and non-invasive option for managing adhesions, improving mobility, and enhancing overall well-being. If you’re dealing with these issues, consulting with a qualified therapist could be a smart step toward recovery, offering a natural way to support your body’s healing process.

Have you ever wondered what happens to your body after a chiropractic adjustment? While many people seek chiropractic care for immediate pain relief and improved mobility, there’s a lesser-known aspect of the treatment that often goes unnoticed: the release of toxins.

Chiropractic care focuses on diagnosing and treating mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system, especially the spine. Proponents of chiropractic treatment suggest that it can improve overall health by addressing issues in the nervous system. Chiropractic treatments have grown in popularity as more individuals seek alternatives to traditional medical treatments. Regular chiropractic adjustments are not only beneficial for spinal health but are also thought to contribute to overall well-being and a healthy lifestyle.

In this post, we’ll clarify what toxins are released after chiropractic adjustment and what you can realistically expect from your treatment.

The Mechanics of Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustment, also known as spinal manipulation, involves applying a quick, sharp force to a joint, usually the spinal vertebrae, to correct alignment and improve the body’s physical function. This technique can release tight muscles and allow the lymphatic system to clear out waste products more effectively, promoting a natural detoxification process.

Chiropractors use various techniques to achieve proper alignment and pain relief. These methods range from gentle pressure and stretching to rapid movements that realign parts of the spine or other joints. Each technique is tailored to the patient’s specific needs to ensure maximum benefits and enhance the healing process. Chiropractic treatments are generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained professional. However, it’s important for patients to discuss their full medical history and any concerns they have before undergoing treatment.

Toxins and Their Release

During a chiropractic adjustment, specific pressure is applied to areas of your spine or joints. This is done to correct misalignments and enhance mobility. This adjustment process can trigger toxic release symptoms, which involves the sudden expulsion of accumulated waste products from cells. This release occurs in response to the physical manipulation during the treatment.

The main toxin released during chiropractic treatment is lactic acid. Lactic acid is a byproduct of muscle metabolism, typically accumulating in muscles that are exerted during strenuous activities like exercise. This accumulation can also be mobilized during the forceful adjustments of a chiropractic session, leading to its release into the bloodstream.

Understanding Toxins in the Body

The body accumulates different types of toxins, from inhaled pollutants and food-based toxins to internal waste products generated from normal cellular activities. These substances can affect overall health, especially if they are not efficiently removed from the body.

Toxins can come from various sources, including the environment (like air pollution), lifestyle choices (such as diet and smoking), and even stress, which can lead to the buildup of harmful substances. Regular physical activity, a healthy diet, and sufficient hydration are key to helping the body remove these toxins and promote a prolonged detoxification process.

Toxin Release Mechanisms in Chiropractic Adjustment

Chiropractic adjustments promote movement-induced detoxification. This occurs as the physical manipulation of the spine enhances the flow of bodily fluids such as blood and lymph, which play crucial roles in removing toxins from body tissues. This enhanced circulation helps to flush out metabolic waste that accumulates in muscles and joints.

The biological pathways activated during chiropractic adjustments involve the nervous system, immune system, and various detoxification pathways. Adjustments help to normalize nerve function, which can influence the body’s innate ability to detoxify. Improved nervous system function can enhance the efficiency of the liver and kidneys, organs that are pivotal in filtering and eliminating toxins from the body.

Commonly Reported Toxins Post-Adjustment

Histamine, a compound released during inflammatory responses, is also commonly reported to increase following chiropractic adjustments. This increase can contribute to temporary swelling and pain, which are natural parts of the healing process. Other inflammatory toxins, such as prostaglandins, also play a role in the body’s response to tissue manipulation, helping to repair and protect the body.

There is some discussion in the chiropractic community about adjustments aiding in the detoxification of heavy metals, although evidence is limited. The theory suggests that improving the alignment of the spine and optimizing nervous system function may enhance the body’s natural detoxification processes, potentially aiding in the removal of heavy metals.

Physiological Responses to Toxin Release

The release of toxins can lead to temporary side effects. Chiropractic patients may experience fatigue, headache, or flu-like symptoms. These symptoms are generally mild and short-lived, representing the body’s natural response to the sudden clearance of toxins.

While the immediate aftermath of a chiropractic adjustment might include discomfort or mild symptoms of toxic release, these are often outweighed by the long-term benefits. Regular adjustments can contribute to improved spinal health, enhanced mobility, and better overall wellness.

Evidential Support and Scientific Studies

Research on toxin release post-chiropractic adjustment is still in its early stages, with more studies needed to understand the full scope of effects. Preliminary studies suggest that adjustments may help reduce the levels of certain biochemical markers of inflammation, indicating a potential detoxification effect.

The concept of toxin release following chiropractic adjustments is not without its controversies. Some medical professionals question the validity of toxin release as it is currently understood in the chiropractic field. Critics argue that more rigorous, scientific evidence is needed to substantiate these claims, pointing to the need for further research in this area to clarify how and to what extent toxins are released and managed by the body post-adjustment.

Mitigation and Management Strategies

To support the body’s natural detoxification processes, it is essential to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This includes staying hydrated to help flush toxins out through the kidneys, eating a diet rich in antioxidants and fiber to aid in digestion and toxin elimination, and engaging in regular physical activity to boost circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Patients are encouraged to incorporate light exercise, such as walking or yoga, which can help to further promote the release of toxins. Adequate sleep is also important, as it allows the body to repair and regenerate. Additionally, practices like massage therapy and sauna sessions can complement chiropractic care by helping to relax tight muscles and facilitate the elimination of waste products.

Safety Considerations and Precautions

Before undergoing chiropractic adjustments, it is important for patients to be thoroughly screened for any pre-existing conditions that might contraindicate such treatments. Conditions such as osteoporosis, severe arthritis, and spinal cord abnormalities require careful consideration and alternative approaches to care.

It is vital to seek treatment from a licensed and experienced chiropractor. A professional chiropractic environment should adhere to all health and safety standards, ensuring that all equipment is properly sanitized and that each treatment plan is tailored to the individual needs of the patient, maximizing safety and effectiveness.

Debunking Myths and Addressing Concerns

There are many misconceptions surrounding chiropractic care, particularly regarding the release of toxins. It is important to understand that while the body may experience a natural response to the adjustment that involves the temporary increase in elimination of waste products, this is not the release of harmful toxins but rather a part of the body’s normal physiological response to healing.

While chiropractic care is safe for most people, it is not devoid of risks. It is important for potential patients to discuss their health history with a chiropractor to understand the risks and benefits specific to their condition. The benefits of chiropractic care such as improved mobility, pain relief, and enhanced overall health are well-documented, but understanding and mitigating any potential risks is crucial for achieving optimal health outcomes.

Summary of Key Findings

Chiropractic adjustments can offer numerous benefits, from pain relief to improved mobility. Understanding the natural detoxification process that follows can help you embrace the full spectrum of benefits that chiropractic care offers.

We get it. You pay a lot of money for your health insurance, and you want to use your benefits. Here are 3 important things to know before you decide who to trust with your health.

1. Health insurance companies do not care about your health.

This may be difficult to absorb, but unfortunately it’s true. Health insurance companies care about saving money and cutting costs. They put limits on treatment options, and put arbitrary road blocks in place to deny care and save a buck. This is a big problem when you have a health issue you are expecting to be covered.

2. Health insurance companies continue to undercut their doctors.

Would you show up to work tomorrow if your boss told you they were getting a 20% pay cut? The obvious answer is NO. Every year doctors continue to get reimbursed less from insurance companies. The best doctors are leaving the insurance networks everyday, meaning they are “out of network” providers. Good doctors providing a valuable service no longer see a need to be involved with insurance networks. The doctors that stick around in the insurance networks are the ones willing to be paid less to do the job. In the near future, only mediocre doctors will still be “In Network” providers. The best doctors in the world will get away from working with insurances altogether, while continuing to provide massive value to their patients.

3. The cost of healthcare continues to go up for patients.

Every year, having a health insurance plan gets more expensive. The plans cover less, the monthly premiums are going up, and deductibles continue to rise. Nowadays, most people typically have to pay thousands of dollars before health insurance will cover any portion of care. Does it make sense that you have to pay more, get less coverage for your health needs, and your doctors get paid less also? It’s easy to see who is actually benefiting from this current model.

Here’s the truth:

It’s easy to find doctors who will take your insurance. It’s very difficult to find doctors who can fix your pain and injuries.

We encourage people to spend considerable time researching doctors that are skilled and specialized, instead of simply finding someone who takes their insurance. At the end of the day, there is nothing more expensive than treatment that doesn’t fix your problem. The cheaper solution is never the better solution when it comes to your health. Take the time to find a great doctor.

Our doctors at Apollo Soft Tissue and Spine are soft tissue specialists and experts with biomechanics. In fact, Dr. Drew Ruebbelke and Dr. John Appleman are 2 of only 3 doctors in Denver certified to fix muscle adhesion and nerve entrapments.

We deliver a complete and accurate diagnosis better than anyone else. This means better results and a happier life for you. At Apollo, we care about your health. If you or anyone your know is struggling with pain or nagging injuries, we would be happy to help.

Auto accidents are physically, mentally, and emotionally damaging. You are extremely lucky if you walk away with no major injuries. Physically, auto accidents can wreak havoc on your musculoskeletal (muscles, nerves, and joints) system. Even if you feel okay after the accident, you should get evaluated by a doctor within a few weeks. Pain can often take several days, or even weeks to begin after an auto accident.

Car accidents can damage and overload the muscles, nerves, and joints of your spine. This can lead to a plethora of problems down the road, including scar tissue, early arthritis of your joints, chronic headaches, chronic pain, etc.

Sometimes the damage from an auto accident cannot be reversed. The only way to tell is for an expert to take a look earlier, rather than later. This will allow for a better, faster recovery, not to mention clarity and peace of mind.

Fortunately, seeing an expert to diagnose and treat any problem that may have developed from the accident can help slow down wear and tear processes in your joints, as well as resolve pain. Seeing a highly trained soft tissue specialist is the safest route to healing after an auto accident(even a light fender bender).

At Apollo Soft Tissue and Spine, our soft tissue specialists are chiropractors, and experts with diagnosis and treatment of muscle, nerve, and joint problems. We see people who have been in auto accidents all the time, and are dedicated to helping our patients live pain free. If you or anyone you know is suffering from pain or injury due to an auto accident, we can help.

Let’s face it, pain and injuries from playing sports or living an active life are inevitable. So how do you fix your pain and injuries for good, and continue the activities you love?

The first step is to pay close attention to how long you have been feeling symptoms after the injury. This provides insight into how much better your injury will get on its own, or if you will need expert help. If after a couple days you don’t feel better, it’s time to see someone.

The longer your symptoms stick around, the less likely it is that your injury will fully heal on its own. If left untreated, nagging injuries can continue to get worse, and lead to chronic (long standing) problems. This is a big problem because chronic muscle, nerve, and joint issues put you on the fast track to early arthritis and degeneration.

So if it’s time to see someone, who do you look to for help?

Your first step is to search for a conservative care provider. Someone who can provide safe, effective, and lasting treatments with very little side effects. Conservative care providers most commonly include chiropractors and physical therapists. Even more specifically, find a musculoskeletal expert trained in biomechanics and human movement. These doctors are the most certified to handle muscle, nerve, and joint problems. Integrative Diagnosis providers in your town are the most qualified to help with your pain and sports injury.

Injuries are predictable, preventable, and identifiable by measuring your flexibility and strength. Seeing a doctor certified to do this is imperative for your recovery. If you feel any symptoms (tightness or tension, weakness, burning, tingling, numbness, shooting pain, sharp pain, aches) it is past the point where you can fix the injury on your own.

Once an injury happens, the likelihood of re-injury goes up substantially. If left untreated, your problem will only get worse over time. If not taken seriously, invasive surgeries could end up being the only option for you. Surgeries have more risks and should be avoided if possible. The earlier you get your injuries looked at, the better the chances of the problem being fixed.

At Apollo Soft Tissue and Spine, our chiropractors are soft tissue specialists and biomechanics experts. We diagnose and effectively treat complex, difficult problems other doctors and therapists can’t resolve. Our doctors are 2 of only 3 Integrative Diagnosis providers in Denver certified to fix your pain and injuries. We are here to help when you need it.

For results with your pain and injuries, call the Apollo soft tissue specialists today at (720) 795-4873.

Treatment doesn’t work unless it’s 1) Safe 2) Effective and 3) Durable. It’s that simple. There are several different treatments that can temporarily change pain, but that doesn’t mean they work. Let’s dive into the details…

1. Safe.

All treatments have different risks. Some have more risks than others. Typically, the more risks there are, the more invasive or aggressive the treatment. (Think taking a pill compared to surgery). What are the risks associated? Do the risks outweigh the reward? What you should be looking for is treatment that is safe with little to no risks, as long as it can help with your diagnosis.

2. Effective.

Does the treatment actually fix what it claims to fix? This is where it gets tricky. Most treatments for muscle, nerve, and joint pain are geared toward fixing pain without identifying the cause of pain. No diagnosis means your doctor is guessing. Having a correct diagnosis, no matter what the problem is, is paramount for choosing what treatment you need. Most of the time, when you visit a chiropractor, physical therapist, massage therapist, or medical doctor for pain, they establish ABSOLUTELY NO DIAGNOSIS. Typically they’re ready to do treatment before nailing down the actual problem. This is very bad! Trying to treat areas of pain without a diagnosis is similar to throwing darts at a dartboard while blindfolded, and expecting a bullseye. When it comes to your health, relying on luck doesn’t cut it. Do you have a clear and accurate diagnosis? If not, you shouldn’t be getting treatment yet.

3. Durable.

The treatment you receive for your problem should provide sustainable, lasting results. If treatment provides temporary results, and your pain constantly comes back or you continue to have re-injury, then it isn’t working. These types of treatment (needling, adjustments, injections, massage, cupping, taping etc.) get expensive, and often leave you frustrated. Treatment durability is the main reason why chiros, physical therapists, and other therapists can get a bad rap.

So what treatment works? A treatment that works is one that is safe, effective, and lasting for your specific diagnosis. It’s that simple.

At Apollo, we specialize in fixing difficult problems other providers have missed or can’t resolve. We do this by taking the time to diagnose, and then providing the best treatment methods to resolve the cause of your pain and injuries.

To live pain free, give us a call. We would be happy to help.

Why do you feel pain? This is a common question we can get in the office, and a good one.

Our bodies are intelligent. Pain is our body’s warning system, and it is an indicator of inflammation and damage. Pain shows up to prevent us from ignoring the problem any longer.

Importantly, pain also serves to unload, or take pressure off the damaged area, so that we don’t make any bad choices that could further damage the underlying problem.

Often times, pain is confusing, because it isn’t specific. It doesn’t tell us exactly WHAT the problem is, and it doesn’t tell us exactly W

HERE the problem is.

This is very similar to the check engine light on the dashboard of your car. When the light comes on, you know there’s a problem. But you don’t know what or where the problem is. We all understand that in order to have the problem resolved, we have to take our car to a mechanic.

What happens if you don’t? What happens if you continue to drive your car and ignore the check engine light? You will damage your car! This means more money out of your pocket, bigger problems down the road, and your car simply won’t last as long.

This is the same for your body. Pushing past pain, or ignoring it will certainly lead to more pain, and irreversible damage to you

r joints, muscles, and nerves. This puts your body on the fast track to wearing out.

And trust us when we say, surgeons waiting rooms are filled with people who didn’t take their pain and injury seriously.

Fixing your problem now means bet

ter, faster results, more money in your pocket, and longevity for you.

Between your car and your body, which one has to last your entire life?

If you, or anyone you know is dealing with pain and injury, or has seen trainers, physical therapists, chiropractors, or other manual therapists with little relief, it’s time to give us a call.
The doctors at Apollo have more training accurately diagnosing and fixing muscle, nerve, and joint problems than any other healthcare facility in the state of Colorado.

Yours in Health,

Chronic Low back or Neck pain

If you’re reading this, you most likely suffer from some sort of chronic low back or neck pain. Ask yourself these following questions to help solve the problem:

Is your pain worse in the morning?

Does the pain get better after waking up and moving around?

Have you had multiple or previous episodes of moderate to severe pain?

Does the pain usually last 2-10 days before going away?

Trouble sitting or standing prolonged periods of time?

Are movements “guarded/protected” or noticing decreased range of motion?

If you answered “yes” to a majority or all of these questions, you most likely are suffering from a disc injury whether you have been diagnosed with it or not. Internal Disc Derangement (IDD) accounts for upwards of 40% of all low back pain and the majority of neck pain!

Disc injuries are often made worse by the presence of adhesion. Adhesion is the most common cause of pain and decreased range of motion in the body. Adhesion acts like glue in muscles and restricts movement. Restricted motion causes more load on injured discs, leading to more pain and long term problems such as disc bulging or disc herniation.

The good news is that a large majority of disc injuries do not require surgery if you seek out an expert to help restore full range of motion and take pressure off of the disc. Disc injuries respond well to conservative management and treatment. By fixing and removing adhesion, range of motion is restored and discs are essentially “decompressed” and unloaded. Leaving you with little to no pain and able to return to regular, daily activity.

We are 2 of only 3 providers in the Denver Metro Area certified to provide you with a proper diagnosis and provide the treatment your neck or back problem needs, even if other practitioners have missed it. Our treatment has helped many people looking for answers to their pain. We have helped patients prevent surgery and those still suffering with pain after surgery. If you answered “yes” to most or all of the questions above, chances are we can help! Call Apollo today at 720-593-2047.

Rotator cuff injuries are common but not normal. Let’s understand which muscles makeup the rotator cuff and how they contribute to your pain. The rotator cuff is made up of 4 muscles, which are more specifically known as the Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Minor, and Subscapularis. These muscles work together to stabilize the shoulder, which is arguably the most unstable joint of the body.

As long as these muscles are relatively strong and healthy, they act in conjunction to balance the movements of the shoulder and our shoulder works perfectly. This allows us to do all the things we take for granted such as: drive our car, open and close doors, blow dry our hair, get dressed, etc.

When these muscles become damaged through trauma, overuse or simply from being alive for more than 20 years they develop muscle adhesion. Muscle adhesion (scar tissue) disrupts the balance between the rotator cuff muscles compromising stability of the shoulder and we experience pain, crunching or popping noises in the shoulder when performing everyday tasks. The muscles, once injured, are past the point where trying to fix it yourself will work. Furthermore, if left untreated, this scar tissue leads to increased wear and tear on the cartilage, ligaments, tendons and attachments of these rotator cuff muscles. The result? Degeneration, arthritis, damaged cartilage, torn rotator cuff tendons and increased pain.

You maybe wondering if you have muscle adhesion, here are a few indicators. If you have: limited mobility, function and pain when using the shoulder or have been diagnosed with degeneration, arthritis, damaged cartilage or a torn rotator cuff? Then you likely have muscle adhesion in your rotator cuff muscles and it is contributing to your shoulder pain.

Drs. John Appleman and Drew Ruebbelke are experts in the diagnosis and treatment of muscle adhesion. They are 2 of 3 doctors certified in the Denver Metro Area to properly diagnose and treat shoulder problems. If you or someone you know is suffering from shoulder pain and other treatments have failed to provide lasting results then call us at 720.593.2047 or visit Apollosofttissue.com to schedule an appointment.

There are over 100 places in the human body where a nerve can become trapped causing symptoms of numbness, tingling, aching, burning and pain. The symptoms result from increased tension on nerves. Nerves transmit information from the environment to the spinal cord and brain. There are many places in the body where nerves are adjacent to, and must slide through muscles.

Nerves need to be able to slide past and through different structures otherwise they will not be able to function properly. Muscles can develop adhesion; if the adhesion builds near a nerve, the two structures can become adhered together stretching the nerve causing problems. The stretching and increased tension injures the nerve and usually causes tingling down either the leg or arm.

I’m sure you have heard of conditions called carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, piriformis syndrome, tarsal tunnel syndrome, thoracic outlet syndrome, ulnar nerve (cubital tunnel) syndrome etc. These syndromes or conditions rather, are broad general labels put on a patient’s symptom without giving a complete and accurate diagnosis of why this particular condition is taking place. A typical treatment for these conditions consist of icing the affected area, stretching regimen, and ingesting more over-the-counter drugs than your body can handle. We now know that the treatments described above will not help in resolving your problem. In many of the listed syndromes above, muscle adhesion causing a nerve entrapment is the real culprit.

It is important to receive an accurate diagnosis so that effective treatment can be provided. If it’s treatable, our treatment fixes nerve entrapments, helps restore proper nerve function, and reduces pain.

If you or someone you know is suffering with nerve pain, restricted ranges of motion, and other treatments have failed to provide lasting results then they need to see Drs. Drew Ruebbelke and John Appleman of Apollo Soft Tissue & Spine.

You deserve clinical excellence! Call 720-593-2047 to schedule an appointment or contact us via Email: info@apollosofttissue.com.
